Description

ABOUT THE BOOK

This is both a “What to do” and “How to do it” book. It provides a practical guide for clerkship, clinical examination and management of patients with common gynaecological and obstetric complaints/presentations using a problem based approach.

It comprises of seventy-nine rich, practice oriented chapters written by 58 specialists and teachers drawn from over twenty medical schools and teaching hospitals in Nigeria and abroad. The authors put their extensive experience in the training of medical students and postgraduates   to bear in helping the student and doctor answer the following questions when evaluating a patient:

What are the differentials or likely diagnoses? Which are more common?

What questions should be asked and in what sequence?

Examination of what specific regions give diagnostic information for specific differentials?

In what position or sequence of positions, where applicable, should the patient be examined?

What specific instruments or procedures are necessary and how should they be carried out?

What important investigations should be done and how do the findings help in making a definitive diagnosis?

What principles should guide the management of the patient?
